Ol Pejeta Conservancy

Ol Pejeta is the busiest of the Laikipia conservancies. It is home to two of the world’s last remaining northern white rhinos and a sanctuary to over 110 critically endangered black rhinos. The last male northern white rhino, Sudan, died in March of 2018, leaving all hope for the future of this species with the development of IVF techniques.

Ol Pejeta is also home to the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary with a total of 39 animals rescued from traumatic situations in other parts of Africa. The rescued chimpanzees are kept in huge outdoors enclosures, so if you want to visit, expect more of a zoo-like experience but for a good cause.

Other wildlife in Ol Pejeta include lions, cheetahs, leopards and even regular sightings of 2 packs of wild dogs as well as being a home for large herds of Boran cattle.

In Ol Pejeta, we offer Kicheche Laikipia Camp.
